The United States approved the sale of anti-aircraft missile systems to South Korea and Japan on Friday, the US State Department said.
The previously approved 94 SM-2 block-type mid-range air defense missiles also approved the sale of the Washington 12 control system. According to a statement from the US Department of State, this is a total of $ 313.9 million.
The United States has provided a way to sell 160 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles and a control system to Tokyo for $ 317 million.
In his statement, the US Department of Foreign Affairs stated that these arms sales “do not affect the current balance of power in the region”.
The government has authorized arms sales, and the decision must be approved by Congress. There is a one month deadline for legislators.
