The first time-free zone in the world would be a Norwegian island where the sun does not rest for months, so the locals don’t see the point of measuring time – writes MTI

Sommaröy (Summer Island) is a place where the sun does not go between May 18 and July 26. They live here at 350 and talk more and more about the fact that their watches are more time-consuming than giving away, so they asked the Oslo Parliament for a “time-abolition” on the island.

Since the island near Tromsø is bright all day long in the summer, the exact time is not important, there is little point in talking about afternoon football, dinner or evening watching, said Kjell Ove Hveding, the dpa German news agency, half-way to becoming a time-free zone.
