There is the Michelin Guide and there is the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, which is independent of that. The first appeared in a British gastronomy, the Restaurant, intended for a one-time event, and from there it became an international initiative. The requirements are completely different from those of the famous guide and other similar selections, but there are overlaps.
For the past almost 20 years, the two Michelin-starred Noma and the 2011 Michelin-starred El Bulli have won the first place. In 2019, according to the opinion of more than a thousand gastronomic experts, the French Mirazur finished at the top of the list. Located on the French Riviera, the restaurant was opened in 2006 by an Argentine chef, Mauro Colagreco, and currently has three Michelin stars – the BBC writes.
There are no Hungarian restaurants in the first fifty, but there are ten in the Spanish, two in the French and two in the Danes and Peruvians. Among the neighboring countries Austria and Slovenia were listed, while Steiereck in Vienna became seventeenth and cobarid Hiša Franko became thirty-eighth.
