Rafael Nadal has further improved his own record by winning 12 times the French Open Tennis Championship, as he defeated Dominic Thiemet on Sunday.

The former world-famous Spanish star won his 11th victory in Paris last year, collecting his 17th Grand Slam. This year’s sluggish season, however, was not as bright as the previous ones: “only” 11-time champion won the semi-finals in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona, and five-time winner in Madrid. In Rome, the ice hit the world first with the final victory of Novak Djokovic. The 33-year-old Catcher King has an amazing 92/2 victory score at the Roland Garros, and this year he has lost only one set in the French capital.
The 25-year-old Thiem came to the finale more tired of finishing his marathon, five-pound semi-finals on Saturday only against Saturday’s world-leading Novak Djokovic. His first GS Cup could also be inspired by the fact that since 2016 he has defeated most of the time – four times – in Nadalt. In case of success, he could have been the second Grand Slam winner of the Austrian after Thomas Muster’s triumph in Paris in 1995.
As far as the balance between the two is concerned, the Mallorcan player drove to 8-4, but this year’s only meeting with Thiem won the Barcelona finals.
Last year’s final “re-playing” – then Nadal 6: 4, 6: 3, 6: 2 – Thiem first came to a brick ball at 2: 2, and at the end of the long-lived game he took the defending handler. However, Nadal immediately rebounded, indicating that he was only 4: 3 after 47 minutes. From then on, the events accelerated somewhat, as six minutes later, the more stable Spain was already in the forefront.
Both continued to be more confident in the sequel, Thiem – whose girlfriend Kristina Mladenovic became a pair of champions with Tíme Babos a couple of hours ago – had only six points in four innings. The Spanish gold medal at 5: 6 unexpectedly unstoppable, four punches spoiled, so his opponent settled at 1 hour and 42 minutes.
In the third set, the Austrian immediately failed to handle his “Nothing”, Nadal in the series took 11 balls, and in 9 minutes he dropped to 3: 0. The game with the double-brakes practically declined, and after 24 minutes, the slave king again preferred Thiem for a total of six (!) Points in this section.
In the fourth act, the Austrian series lost its serving for the fourth time, left three of its bricks unused, and after 3: 0 Nadal had to take care of it. The Spanish tennis player had a double brace at 5: 1 and then took the match with confidence, which lasted 3 hours and 1 minute.
Since Monday, 33-year-old Nadal has earned € 2.3 million ($ 736 million) next to his 82th trophy, and is now 18 times the Grand Slam champion and only two left behind Roger Federer.
